Why I shoot jpeg and raw with my Fujifilm X100F

Today I cycled down to the river to try out long exposure photography in bright sunshine. Using the build in ND filter of my X100F plus a screw on big stopper, I was able to get an exposure of 30s at f16, which was enough to capture the movement in the clouds and river.

When I viewed the jpeg on the back of the camera it looked like a failure

As I was shooting jpeg and raw, I knew I could (probably) make the raw image usable with a bit of post processing.
