At Worcester Cathedral and other venues
October 2006 to August 2007
In 1987, the bones of an unknown man were discovered buried within the Cathedral, a privilege usually reserved for the highest in the land. Who was he and how did he come to be buried in so sacred a place?
This was the inspiration for the radio play The Worcester Pilgrim by locally based writer Alex Jones, which was originally broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in November 2003.
artworcs, in partnership with Worcester Cathedral, The University of Worcester, Singworks, Worcester Art Gallery and Museum and BBC Radio Drama, created a major multi-arts project...
artworcs commissioned a full, site-specific version of the play by Alex Jones. The play was performed in Worcester Cathedral with a professional cast and live Gregorian Chant from the Lay Clerks of Worcester Cathedral. It was an unforgettable theatrical experience. Performances ran from 4th to 7th October 2006.
More information on the play here.
Visual artists explored the themes of pilgrimage and create new artistic journeys in traditional and contemporary book form. The exhibition was at The Chapter House from 3rd to 7th October and transfered to Worcester City Art Gallery from 21st October to 25th November, 2006.
